Dr. Rachel Ammirata

Dr. Ammirata was born and raised in Litchfield County.  At a very young age, she realized her passion for veterinary medicine through caring for her family pets including dogs, cats, horses and various reptiles. She attended Western Ct. State University for her Bachelor's Degree.  She received her Master of Animal Science degree at North Carolina State University and pursued her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University.  While studying there, she was inducted to the veterinary honor society Phi Zeta and received a scholarship for compassion during her clinical year.  Dr. Ammirata developed a strong interest in soft tissue medicine, and chronic pain management. Her interests also include palliative care, maintaining comfort and quality of life in sick or geriatric patients.  Dr. Ammirata started her position at Litchfield Veterinary Hospital in June of 2016.

Outside of Litchfield Veterinary Hospital, Dr. Ammirata, affectionately known as Dr. “A.” loves spending time with her husband and children. She also enjoys going on adventures with her menagerie of dogs, including her Australian Shepard, two Labradors and a Jack Russel.
